Sirens

Well it's late, and I was asleep until I heard 5 fire trucks blaring outside of my window. I looked outside and the condo building next to me is all lit up and there are a ton of people standing around. After gawking a bit, I realized it was probably just a stupid person pulling the fire alarm. At least it wasn't my condo, but never the less, the sound of the sirens did wake me up and now I can't fall back asleep. So what is a girl to do? Well blog of course!

So my life for the past few years, I have decided, can be summed up into a combination of 2 movies, which you ask? Well, of course The Wedding Planner and then throw in a little of the movie 50 first dates (not because I have amnesia and can't remember anything, which might not be such a bad idea, I could stand to forget a few of the dates I've been on this last year), but because there have been so many first dates. Well as you can tell, probably by my latest paragraph rant, the date I went on last week, I do believe has fizzled out and gone no where.

I thought the date went well. With it being a blind date, it's really not so much of a date but a, let's meet and see if we have anything in common type deal. I would say after 3 hours of non stop conversation, and him walking me to my car, I wasn't too disillusioned in thinking it had gone well. Not the whole "I took one look and fell madly in love" well, but a "I think I'd like to go on a second date and see if there's anything there" well.

Anyways, I hadn't heard from him since Friday, and me trying to be the eternal optimist (which believe me is hard, with dating, I'm definitly a glass half empty girl...what can I say there's only so many times you can get your emotions run over by a truck and still come out hoping for the best). But, low and behold, I was trying to be optomistic. Monday rolls around, nothing. So after talking to a few friends on what I should do, I shoot him a quick e-mail just to tell him I had a good time and if he was up for it, I'd love to get together again some time. It was almost like pulling teeth to write, as I wanted to not be the one to make a first move. I guess I'm just old fashioned in the fact that a little effort to be pursued would be great.

Anyways, dont' hear back until today, which isn't that long, except for last week when we were planning the date, he was so prompt in responding to both e-mail and phone call. So basically when my inbox tells me "you've got mail" I read the e-mail and basically decipher that it was a polite way of blowing me off. And trust me, being the recipient of a few before and also being the person sending a few of these before, I think I'm right on on this one. Basically he told me he had a good time but he was busy with work this week, actually this whole month and maybe we could get together sometime after that. Yep....I'm gonna have to say that this probably concludes the chapter of this dating fiasco.

Here's to hoping there's not too many first dates still ahead of me, it'd be nice to make it to a second date or *gasp* even a third! haha. Don't mind me, I'm just sleep deprived right now and was feeling a little feisty.

Sweet dreams :)
