Well, today was an early start. I had to be at the Boat Club by 6am today for a meeting that I booked at the Boat Club, except every part of this was pro bono. It's a group that gives away large grants to developing projects around the city of St. Paul and the Boat Club received the grant a few years ago to restore it....(yes this elegant building used to be a biker bar called the Serpent) haha, imagine having your wedding there. Anyways, the board members wanted to see what the space looked like so I was here early helping to move tables, set linens and re-configure the room to look more like a meeting space rather than a wedding reception. Oh the many hats I wear! It's a great program though, so I was glad I could help!
I have a wedding this weekend at the Boat Club and one of my good friend's wedding just a block down the street. So in between my friends ceremony and reception (there is a few hours), I'm going to run to the Boat Club to check on my wedding...it's going to be busy! One of my good friends at work said she would help with my wedding as well, so I'm not worried. Plus, I love the couple, they are so laid back and just happy to finally be getting married, as they've been together for 10 years!
I decided it's time to get in shape (I decide this a lot, probably every week I say I'll start on Monday and then of course something gets in the way and I have to wait until the following Monday....endless cycle of laziness really). Well no more, I have an incentive now. Abbey and I came up with a plan, we both have goals we want to reach, and if we meet our goals (which mostly consist of eating healthier, working out more, and shedding a few pounds), then we get to treat ourselves to a small vacation in the fall (when I get more days off and work slows down). We were thinking a winery somewhere or visiting a friend...either way, keep your fingers crossed, I really hope I can make it! Time to start giving 110%...too bad Tucker still won't walk with me but a few steps and then sits down. Maybe when he's bigger :) In the meantime, it's time to start using my 2 gym memberships I have (not by choice, trust me!).
I did realize last night that there are a few people that just don't know what the word respect is. It's really sad that some people just think that the world owes them, just for being born, and stepping on people in the process doesn't even phase them. I know that sometimes I enable this as I do let people walk all over me, but I'm working on changing that. As time goes on and you grow up, sometimes you realize some things just aren't worth it and some things are worth standing up for and giving your opinion. Anyways, that was my rant for the day....in other words I've learned to just be respectful to the people around you, even if they don't know how to show it in return, you never know when karma might show it's face!
