Today, I did some very manly things, well things at least I think the man of the house would do. Being as though I am a pretty independent single girl, I have to do and learn how to do a lot of things by myself. Sometime I can con the men in my life into doing a few things for me, but with my Dad being out of the country a lot and my brother being well....a tad lathargic (and basically being raised by 3 women, he's not always the one to come to my resuce), I have to rely on myself for a lot of things.
So, I decided that my house needed a bit of a makeover (I can be very indecisive at times and need change probably more often than not). So I headed to Menards (otherwise known as the nail store), to check out some different paint swatches. As I was walking through the isles, I realized obviously, that it was mostly men there. There were the ones ooing and awwing over all the different tools and nails, (I don't get it, I'd much rather look at shoes and jewelry any day, but whatever floats your boat guys!), and then there were the ones that you could tell had to leave in the middle of their "project" to run to Menards to either a) get that item they forgot or b) find something to fix the the mistake they made while trying to fix the original problem (trust me, I've witnessed this first hand many times in my life).
Anyways, I decided that I needed a few other things while I was there, a ladder, some paint brushes, and even some nails. I could tell all the workers thought I was out of my element as I strode down the nail and ladder isle wearing my hot pink nike tennis shoes, and my hot pink t-shirt that said "bride's entourage". I ended up getting a little overwhelmed when the nice gentleman that worked there, came up and started speaking to me, in a completely foreign language, when he asked me about what types of "primer, and ladders, and even types of nails", I needed. So I decided, I would take my swatches home and come back another day, when I knew how to handle these questions (which, trust me, could be never)!
I then went to Walmart to grab a few items to clean my house with. P.S. the Swiffer jet thing is awesome, no more scrubbing on my hands and knees!! I decided to take a detour down the electronic isle (I've been needing a new TV in my bedroom, because every time I turn on my TV a high pitched noise drowns out everything else going on). They were having a sale, so I ended up buying a 26" LCD TV. Let's be serious, do you think I know anything about TV's? Of course not. So instead of figureing out what gadgets were necessary, the quality of the picture, the wave length, blah blah, I did the girly thing to do and picked out the one that was the shineist and looked the coolest. Good idea? I hope so!
So I took my purchase home, and put it together, took my old tv to storage and fired up the new one. Of course, it took me probably twice as long to figure out what cable thingy went where, and what kind of cable I had (Air, Digital, Antenna, etc). I'm still not sure which one I have, I just started pushing buttons and finally got something! Let's just say it took a few tries before the screen was more than just fuzz. But, yet again, I'm proud to say I've assembled another item in my house (the coffee table was a big feat for me)! Next item on the list, a long cabinet from IKEA, that I have to assemble (once I purchase it). That may not work out so well.
I'll post some pictures when I finish my re-decorating!
