New Profession

As stated in a previous post, I wear many hats at my job. Well, this weekend that list of skills that I have increased by one. I am now a professional "human lawn mower", yes that's right, a lawn mower. I got an e-mail on Friday night around 9pm from my bride that was having her wedding at the Boat Club that following Saturday evening (why I was checking my work e-mail at 9pm on a Friday night, is beyond me...I guess it's the curse of having a blackberry, you are in the know at all times), that said the ceremony site was looking pretty rough for their wedding that next day. This should have been taken care of by some other staff, days before, but I showed up on Saturday morning and she was right. The grass hadn't been mowed, there were branches/sticks everywhere, weeds all down the where the isle was and weeds that had grown up in between the bricks where the ceremony was to take place, and my favorite, 3 dead birds. So what's an Event Planner to do? I spent the next 3 hours on my hands and knees, literally "mowing" aka me pulling the grass and weeds with my hands to make it look better. Around 5:30pm when the ceremony started, it looked a lot better, and no one would have known it was a breeding ground for weeds and dead birds 3 hours prior. It was a gorgeous night on the river, and everything turned out great. This is why I have to be ready for everything at the drop of a hat!

My memorial weekend was great and very relaxing! Gorgeous weather (I wish I had been on the boat but we didn't make it around to getting it out of storage). It was my sister's bday so we went out to Punch pizza for dinner and then we went to Nelson's Ice Cream Shop in stillwater for some AMAZING ice cream (not on the biggest loser diet, whoops), and then to the movie Ghosts of Girlfriends Past (it was pretty good). All in all, I would say it was a successful weekend! Nic and I are going to take Tuck to the dog park today, maybe he'll make some new friends and run off a little energy. Whenever I come back to my parents house, Tucker and Shasta (our family dog who is 11), play Tug of War, literally the entire time with their toys. I think they've ruined about 3 toys, this weekend alone. So I bought them both matching platypus toys, but of course they still wanted the one each other had!

On a serious note, I want to give a shout out to all the men and women that have or are serving our country! Being from a Military family, gives you an entirely different perspective on the things that our servicemen and women go through. And although I always joke around and say I won't ever date a man in the service (I know it's a tough life, I've lived it), I have the utmost respect for anyone willing to fight for all of us to make this world a better place, because as well all know, this world needs all the help it can get! So even though my dad isn't here this weekend, he's actually off serving our country right now in Japan, I'd like to say thank you to him, even though I may not say it enough, I am very proud of you, you are my own personal hero :) My grandpa also served, and if he were here now, I'd run up and give him a kiss for making the world a little bit better (before I was even born). I hope you all take a moment to realize the sacrafice some make in order to give us the opportunity to be celebrating this day the way we would like!! HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!!!

Here are some pictures from the weekend....
